WASHINGTON,
D.C, October 9, 2000 – CardSmart
Technologies
announced
today that it has agreed to develop a suite of Smart Card applications
especially for the upcoming CardTech
SecurTech Defending Cyberspace Conference
scheduled for December 11-13, 2000 in Washington, D.C. The government
conference is sponsored by the General Services Administration (GSA)
and the Federal Chief Information Officers Council, and is entitled
“Strategic Planning & Partnerships for Trusted e-Business.”
CardTech/SecurTech and NACHA, the Electronic Payments Association will
host the event. The conference affords various government employees
the opportunity to learn about the latest advances in e-services delivery,
privacy protections, and safeguarding critical infrastructures.
The suite of
applications will enable the smart card to act as an identification
badge for conference attendees and exhibitors. In addition, the cards
will qualify certain attendees for additional conference benefits such
as attendance to one of the various conference workshops, copies of
the proceedings, and lunches that will be provided. This will be the
first test of a smart card that conforms to the GSA interoperability
specification.
According to
David Fisher, Executive Vice President of CardSmart Technologies, “It
is exciting for us to be the first to deploy solutions for the card
of the future. Since we contributed to the evolution of the specification
it was a logical choice for us to adopt the GSA architecture for the
show applications.” Fisher added that CardSmart Technologies will develop
the applications in support of its client Litton PRC, which will be
a major exhibitor at the three-day conference.
CardSmart Technologies, headquartered
in Morristown, New Jersey, is a premier provider of total
