Dave Fisher, a co-founder of CardSmart, has twenty years of engineering and management experience with the design and development of database driven transaction systems. Many of these employed advanced card technology and sophisticated backend reporting and analysis systems. Fisher has been recognized among his peers as a leading expert in system design, smart card technology and information security. He has extensive knowledge of card reading devices, cryptography, biometrics, security environments and smart cards.
Fisher has experience with the backend systems needed to support transaction networks with millions of members, including CRM and payment gateways, credentialing systems, data warehouses, large networks for managing account/transaction data, and web communication technologies for interacting with system operators and users. He has architected leading edge custom software for groups as diverse as automobile dealerships, retailers, golf courses, DARPA, and the National Institute of Standards.
Fisher has also developed a wide variety of successful automation applications including technical and financial project tracking systems, database management systems and novel decision support tools. In 1993 he co-authored SIGMA Software Toolsets©, a copyrighted software integration technology which was subsequently configured for widespread military and civilian use. In 1995, Fisher authored EZ Smart Card Formatter which became the industry standard for smart card training at leading companies such as Schlumberger and Northrop Grumman. Recently, he architected an entirely new approach for managing and distributing customer data over the Internet.
Earlier in his career, while at IBM in Washington D.C., Fisher coordinated FAA management and IBM detail design personnel in defining interface systems and in planning a smooth transition to the new air traffic control system. Later, at Strategic Analysis, a leading systems integrator providing IT services to the federal government, he designed and deployed advanced security systems and transaction management technologies. Recently, he contributed to the federal government's smart card interoperability specification and wrote some of the benchmarking software for card testing and certification.
Fisher graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.S. in Systems Engineering. He has authored several patent applications on advanced card technology and related systems and holds a DOD Secret security clearance.
