In its simplest sense, Legato™ is a centralized highly efficient transaction engine and database managed by a common web browser. The platform securely processes tens of thousands of hits, data retrievals, queries, reports, and other administrative tasks every minute.
Its innovative architecture enables full and seamless integration within a variety of transaction processing applications such as retail front end point-of-sale technologies, including payment, debit, coupon, and scanners. However, the technology is not limited to traditional retail use. Because the technology platform itself borrows heavily from our experience in developing and integrating a variety of high level security solutions in both the public and private sectors, just about any organization could benefit in a significant way from a well-engineered customer, employee or membership data management program. Other types of applications supported on the Legato™ platform, include physical access control, network logical access control, visitor management, time and attendance, inventory management and record management.

OnSite or OnDemand FlexibilityThe key to Legato™ is its flexibility, a result of its overall architectural design and web based user interfaces. It can be deployed in software as a service (SaaS) mode or integrated into practically any legacy environment.
Most organizations prefer the SaaS model and look to CardSmart to host, manage, and maintain the service.
Legato™ can help merchants build and administer successful communications, rewards and incentive programs. Merchants are empowered to create powerful and relevant marketing campaigns. Multiple media (email, direct mail, voice calling and text messaging) can be utilized to dispatch personalized and timely messages to customers.
It can also be used to help your organization better manage disparate data from multiple sources, such as customer sales transactions, loyalty and payment processing, physical and network logical access control, time and attendance systems, and visitor management, then report back in user specific context sensitive displays or dashboards.
CustomizationThe inherent flexibility of the system's functionality leads to the relatively easy customization of the Legato™ platform to a particular end user's specifications. This usually includes incorporating robust Customer Relationship Management (CRM) communication tools and utilities that allow users to easily access and manage their data to create and control wide scale e-marketing events, traditional direct mailing, automated voice calling and text messaging, as well as other emerging marketing based technologies.
The Legato™ core can be optionally extended with custom client specific code and the resulting customization can be minor or, very extensive. Since the first customization in 2000, a number of subsequent customizations have been implemented for clients.
Legato™ is intended to allow small store operators or larger chain management to easily identify the purchasing behavior of their customers and effectively communicate with those customers in a merchant-configured and managed software environment.
